A man has been arrested after a minibus crashed into a lamp post and the wall of a property in Grangetown.

The white Ford minibus came off the road on St Andrew’s Road West just before 1pm yesterday.

Officers arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the incident.

The crash caused damage to the back wall and fence of a property on Birchington Avenue.

The minibus was recovered from the scene at around 4.30pm.

PD Ports, the company which operates Teesport, has achieved Silver status at the 2017 Health and Safety Awards.

The prestigious annual scheme, run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, awarded PD Ports for its commitment to continued improvement in health, safety procedures and exceptional health & safety standards, ensuring the wellbeing of its employees.

Through the RoSPA Awards scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

The awards ceremony which is now in its 61st year, took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel last Thursday.

Young people in Redcar and Cleveland are invited to look to the future at a special careers open day at Redcar & Cleveland College.

The Foundation for Jobs skills event is Redcar and Cleveland‘s biggest jobs and careers fair, and is taking place today from 1pm to 7pm.

Youngsters aged between 16 and 25 will be able to find out more about the range of opportunities which are open to them, including current apprenticeships.

There will also be the opportunity to meet potential employers and organisations which can offer employer-valued skills training.

The event is hosted by Foundation for Jobs, a programme set up to inspire and motivate young people to access the workplace and improve employability skills to develop future job prospects.
