A man has been injured after being confronted by an intruder in his Skelton home.
It happened on Saltburn Lane at around midnight on Thursday.
The suspect attacked the 67-year-old man with an unknown object and left the victim with minor injuries to his face and arms.
He then made off on foot empty handed and ran to the High Street.
The suspect is described as being six foot tall, of slim build, and around 18-years-old.
He was wearing a camouflage jacket and light coloured trainers and might have facial injuries from the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Lindsay Forbes on 101.
A dog has died after falling from Saltburn cliffs.
The Coast Guard received reports of a dog that fallen over the cliffs on Thursday afternoon.
When they arrived at the scene they realised the animal hadn't survived.
Redcar's lifeboat service recovered the dog and took it to its owner at the station.
