A Redcar man has been jailed for over three years after his dangerous driving left a passenger in his vehicle paralysed from the neck down.

Ian Maughan lost control of his speeding car which veered off the road at Warrenby Bridge and landed on its side in a field in January.

His 29-year-old passenger suffered damage to his spinal cord and can no longer use any of his limbs.

The dad-of-two's injuries have been described as "life-changing" after they leave him unable to walk or feed himself.

Maughan admitting causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.

He has been jailed for three years and four months and has also been banned from driving.

The union for transport workers has confirmed there'll be more strikes by Arriva guards and drivers.

This means there's likely to be more disruption to Teesside's rail network.

The strike will take place all day on Saturday the 8th of April, however we don't know which services will be affected yet.

It comes after a similar walk out last week where trains between Saltburn, Redcar and Middlesbrough were out of service all day.

The guards and some drivers are striking after the future of the guards’ jobs became uncertain.

A Marske business has been given royal approval their gourmet scotch eggs.

The Clucking Pig Company took their scotch eggs all the way to Buckingham Palace to be tasted by the Duke of York and the Queen's chef.

Owners David and Christine Laing were invited to the palace after impressing Prince Andrew at an event in Sunderland in January where they were presented with an 'Entrepreneur of the Week' award.

They pride themselves on making a vast range of handmade, free-range scotch eggs.

The range includes eggs such as wild boar, wild rabbit, venison and even vegetarian haggis.
