Staithes RNLI and Runswick Bay Rescue Boat secured and recovered the casualties to the lifeboat before transporting them to Runswick Bay.

Despite their ordeal, the two people involved were fine and well with no apparent injuries and returned to their car for their journey home.

Young people from our area were celebrating their success last night at the local graduation event for the National Citizen Service.

Over a hundred youngsters and their families attended the event, which was held at Sacred Heart School in Redcar.

The event included video footage of the social action projects carried out by the NCS youngsters over the summer, including work to tidy up Redcar railway station, Saltburn Scout Hut, and media work including Summer Sound at Guisborough.
