A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Thursday 14th July 2016.

Police are investigating after an attempted break-in in Eston yesterday.

The incident occurred at a property on Blantyre Road during the early hours of yesterday morning, when an attempt was made to gain access to the property by smashing the rear patio door.

The glass in the door was shattered, however entry was not gained to the property.

Officers from Eston Neighbourhood Policing Team are advising householders in the area to be aware of the incident and take all possible precautions.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the police on the non-emergency number 101.

Northumbrian Water has apologised to customers in Saltburn following problems with the mains water supply.

Water supplies in the Ruby Street area were affected yesterday evening after emergency repairs were required to the water main.

Northumbrian Water apologised for any inconvenience.

Anyone with discoloured water is advised to run the first mains-fed tap in their property. This is the cold water tap nearest to the internal stop tap which is usually the cold water tap found in the kitchen.

You should run this tap at the normal rate for up to 40 minutes or until clear.

Families of Redcar and Cleveland residents killed in action during the Korean War are being asked to come forward as part of a British Legion scheme.

The scheme would give relatives of soldiers who fought and died in Korea the chance to apply for the ‘Revisit Korea’ programme, which would see families visit South Korea at the request of the Republic of Korea’s government.

16 veterans are known to have died in the war and the Redcar branch of the Royal British Legion is looking to trace families of those in the borough to notify them of the opportunity.

The Government of South Korea will sponsor a family member to fly to Korea. The only cost to them is travel to and from Heathrow Airport.

The deadline for this year’s trip, which happens in October, is Saturday 30th July.

However, it's expected that there will be another trip next year.
