Music and Memories
Keith presents 'Music and Memories' on Zetland FM, playing tracks from the 40's right up to the present day along with the odd twist of popular songs added for your enjoyment and relaxation.
To help out here at Zetland FM is a wish come true for Keith. He says he has always wanted to be part of a team on the radio and when Zetland FM asked for interested people to contact them he jumped at the chance.
Keith says having his own show on a Sunday evening is the icing on the cake. He enjoys sharing his musical interests with the listeners in Redcar & Cleveland and beyond.
The feedback from the audience is an added bonus especially when people are in other countries listening in on line. The team here at Zetland FM are like one big happy family and it's such a pleasure to be part of it.
Keith started his musical career messing about on an old piano at the age of about ten. He then went on to play for Cargo Fleet Brass Band in Middlesbrough.
After leaving school Keith joined the 1st Battalion The Green Howards Band studying music and was sent to Kneller Hall, the Royal Military College of Music in London to study under the famous Trevor Sharp and Duncan Beat.
After 12 years service he left the army and started teaching in the local schools as a freelance music teacher in and around the Cleveland area before changing job and working for the Civil Service for ten years.
Keith has performed all over the world and has also been on the TV and radio before working for Zetland FM. He has played in various brass bands and orchestras throughout his musical career including the odd dance band here and there.
In 2007 Keith started a new concert wind band for the people of Cleveland in the hope of encouraging some of the younger element to enjoy more of what music is all about whilst playing alongside older and more experienced players. That band is now the Cleveland Concert Band.
Keith's other hobbies include arranging music for brass and concert band. Like most good musicians, he enjoys a good pint or three with his friends and family.
