Dave was was born and brought up in Stockton on Tees, but moved to Redcar some 15 years ago when his twins were nearly 2 years old to be nearer to wife Sue's parents.

Dave presents Beacon Brass on Zetland FM, which is as far as we are aware is the only specific Brass Band Radio Show in this part of the North East.

Dave became interested in Brass Bands when, as a 13 year old, he became a member of the Salvation Army at Stockton Citadel, joining the Junior Band. He stopped playing after less than a year, but started again some 3 and a half years ago at the age of 55.

Dave is a member of Marske Brass Band and also Cleveland Concert Band and occasionally help out other Bands as and when asked.

Dave says that he loves presenting his own show on Zetland FM, because it's a fantastic way of reminding listeners of the fantastic Brass Band heritage we have here in our own area.

He hopes he may even persuade more people to become involved with the Brass Band Movement, as although he stopped playing for 40 plus years, he never lost his love of and interest in Brass Band Music which he hopes comes through every week on the programme.
