Hannah Raine and Annike Jinadu have been selected to attend Netball National Screening in March at The England Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Hannah is one of four players from the north east selected in the under 19 age group and Annike is one of just three local netballers in the under 17 age group.

Both girls have been playing for Grangetown Netball Club since the age of eleven and are currently members of the club’s unbeaten under 16 squad in the Nationals Regional League. In addition, Hannah and Annike are involved in the Team Northumbria NPL squad, as well as Grangetown’s Northern and Premier League squads, with Hannah having had some invaluable court time in the recent Prem 2 win over Team Jets.

Grangetown club manager Geraldine Williams commented: “I was ecstatic when I found out the news that Hannah & Annike had been selected for the screening; we are extremely proud of them both and what they have achieved whilst being at Grangetown. It is amazing news for both players their families, the club, and the area of Middlesbrough”.

Coaches Ria Small and Sarah Sainty were equally thrilled: “When we heard the girls had been selected for the trial, we were absolutely over the moon. We contacted the girls straight away to congratulate them!

“This is something which they have both worked very hard for,” Ria continued, “and it’s fantastic that their efforts have been rewarded. We want them to embrace the opportunity and enjoy every minute of the experience. They are really talented players and, as always, we are so proud of them – as we are all the girls at Grangetown.

“Sarah and I are both looking forward to continuing to work closely with Hannah and Annike and supporting them and their parents throughout their netball careers.”
