Guisborough enjoyed a 2-0 victory to keep them second in Northern League Division One, five points behind Shildon.

Stephen Dowling's men defeated their Northumberland opposition at the KGV on Saturday thanks to goals from Steven Snaith and Danny Earl.

Elsewhere in the top tier, Marske United edged a five-goal thriller 3-2 at Penrith to stay sixth, while bottom club Norton & Stockton shocked Consett with a vital 3-0 victory.

In Division Two, there were also welcome results locally as Billingham Town crushed Crook 4-1 and Billingham Synthonia won 2-1 at Easington Colliery, though Thornaby lost out 3-1 at home to Northallerton.
