Town launch ambitious match day fund-raising initiative for home game against Morpeth

Guisborough Town are launching an ambitrious new lunchtime ‘Match Day Special’ initiative with fomer Boro favourite Craig Hignett hosting the inaugural event before the match against Morpeth on Saturday, 28 November.

Although the Priorymen have staged highly-successful evening Sportsman’s evenings in the past, they have never combined a lunch with guest speaker followed by a match before.

For the bargain price of just £12.50, the Guisborough ‘Match Day Special’ will comprise ground admission (worth £6), match day programme (value £1.50), a dedicated Golden Goal ticket (£1), plus the celebrated Prioryman Pie and Peas and half time refreshments with tea, coffee and biscuits.

But apart from that bargain bucket of benefits, the main attraction will be guest speaker Craig Hignett – a big favourite with Boro on the field as a player but now a sought-after speaker with a fund of good footballing tales to tell.

Guisborough Town FC Chairman Don Cowan said:  “We’ve had really well-received Sportsman’s evenings in the past but never this kind of novel initiative, combining a match with all the usual trappings but a high calibre speaker such as Craig.

“Hopefully with both ourselves and Morpeth currently doing well in the league, it should be a top of the table meeting of two very good sides. We believe this will prove highly popular as it represents excellent value, so supporters are urged to reserve their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment,” added Don.

Craig told Zetland FM Sport: "I am really pleased to be involved with this match day idea. it's a great opportunity to see the Town game with all the added extras and I can't wait to share a few stories before the game as well"
