MFC Foundation is championing Girls' Football Week by holding dedicated sessions every evening from Monday to Friday.

The girls’ football courses, aimed at girls aged 13 and over, will be free to enter and run by qualified Foundation coaches at the Herlingshaw Centre, South Bank.

Even for those who’ve never kicked a ball before, it’s a great opportunity to get to grips with an exciting new interest, keep fit and make new friends along the way.

The FA’s Girls’ Football week runs from October 5-11, and has been devised on the back of hugely successful Women’s Football Weeks which began in 2012. A national campaign, it hopes to encourage more education centres to provide girls football courses, and as a result engage as many as 5,000 girls and young women.

Alongside the popular #ThisGirlCan motivational tag devised by Sport England, the FA launched the #WeCanPlay campaign during the Women’s World Cup earlier this year as football, already the most popular ladies’ sport worldwide, continues to grow.

FA women’s football national project manager Polly Fildes said: “This year has seen real change and momentum in women’s football, especially with the success of the Lionesses at this summer’s World Cup, and we wanted to build on that by extending the programme.

“We want as many schools, colleges and universities to provide opportunities for their female students to play football during our national week of action and we have created the tools and materials provided to make it as easy as possible for them to do so.

“We have seen some real success stories across the country with our Women’s Football Weeks, with women not just trying, but continuing to play football, and we’re hoping for the same next month.

"We may even find the next generation of Lionesses."

The session times are as follows:

Monday 5th | 6-8pm | Coaching & matches!

Tuesday 6th | 5-6pm | Coaching & matches!

Wednesday 7th | 8-9pm | Turn up & play!

Thursday 8th | 4-5pm | Coaching & matches!

Friday 9th | 6-7pm | Turn up & play!
