Guisborough Town FC are going into the new season on a positive note after pre-season victories against Billingham Synthonia and Whitby Town.

The victory has put Guisborough in good spirits heading into the season after a recent 2-0 against Billingham.

The goals came courtesy of a Luke Bythway strike in the 33rd minute, before Jonathan Helm put them two goals ahead from a free kick, midway into the second half.

The win against Synthonia was the second in the space of only two weeks after previously thrashing them 7-3 in an away fixture.

Between the two, Guisborough also had a 2-1 victory against rivals Whitby Town in the Micky Skinner Memorial Trophy.

It was the first time Town have beaten their higher league opponents in the trophy, since starting it four years ago.

Town took the lead within four minutes with an early goal from Peter Bulmer.

Whitby then equalised just after the restart, before super-sub, Stephen Roberts snatched the victory thirteen minutes from time.

The Priorymen went into the fixture against Whitby full of confidence.

And this showed as Bulmer put the ball in the top corner with a stunning shot, from just outside the box, within four minutes.

Guisborough continued to press the higher division team, nearly putting them two up just before half time, with both teams pushing for a goal.

Whitby were the first out of the blocks in the second half though, scoring an equaliser in the 48th minute, with the home defence caught napping, leaving Matty Walters to put the ball in the net.

But the excitement wasn't over with Guisborough re-taking the lead folowing another shot from outside the box, from substitute Roberts, taking an unlucky deflection and going in off the post.

Guisborough start the season against North Shields on the 8th of August.
