Marske United have become Northern League champions for the first time in their history.

Shildon's midweek slip up means United are the first North Riding title winners since the other Seasiders, Whitby Town, in 1996-97. Town currently occupy the Northern Premier League Premier Division, the league's third-longest-serving members.

Marske fought off competition from Shildon, West Auckland and neighbours Guisborough Town to land the honour- the biggest in their short history.
