Yorkshire's cricketers took the County Championship for the first time in 13 years after a crushing win over rivals Nottinghamshire on Friday.

Despite the loss of suspended skipper Andrew Gale, England's Joe Root led the Tykes to a stunning innings victory at Trent Bridge this week to secure the title.

Yorkshire set the foundations on the first two days, making 532-9 declared with Adam Lyth making 122, 99 for Gary Ballance, Tim Bresnan making 95 and Alex Lees striking 86.

Former England seamer Ryan Sidebottom took nine wickets in the match as Notts were dismissed for 203, then 177, early on day four, after following on.

The win means Yorkshire take the title with a game to spare.
