Wednesday launch says Boro girls can!
Tees Valley Sport and women from Middlesbrough will be meeting in Centre Square on Wednesday to launch a campaign.
Boro Girls Can is part of the national Sport England This Girl Can campaign, celebrating women of all shapes and sizes who are active and using their stories to inspire other women.
Leading up to the launch Tees Valley Sport have been working in partnership with Middlesbrough Council's Public Health Directorate to identify groups who can engage women in sport and exercise on their terms and in their space whether physically or emotionally.
The event starts at 12.30pm at the Big Screen, Centre Square, Middlesbrough. The launch will kick start a social media campaign to empathise with women from Middlesbrough and inspire them to exercise regularly and to look at their potential to becoming leaders and coaches.
At the launch, the big screen will have a first screening of an inspirational film featuring local women on the big screen. Independent research for the national This Girl Can campaign says 2.8 million women aged 14 to 40 who recognise the campaign say they have done some or more activity as a result and 1.6 million of those women say they have started exercising.
