Chairman Don Cowan welcomed the news and on behalf of the club expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Taylor Wimpey for its continued support and generosity.
He commented: “On behalf of the club I am absolutely delighted to announce that Taylor Wimpey is extending our existing arrangement, initially for a further two years. The agreement represents a significant improvement on our previous three-year deal and also includes a commitment to provide valuable in-kind support for future improvements to the KGV Stadium and infrastructure.
It is very heartening indeed to receive this further extremely important and valuable commitment from Taylor Wimpey. The Taylor Wimpey team’s recognition of the active role we play in the local community - over and above what happens on the football field – is a credit to everyone involved with the club.
Our commitment to and involvement in the local community is also very much in keeping with Taylor Wimpey’s own corporate social responsibility programme, aimed at providing support to the communities in which it operates, including Guisborough. We warmly welcome Taylor Wimpey’s ongoing support which will help us to continue to build on the very solid foundations which we have laid over the past five years or so. This has helped our much-loved football club to thrive and develop to the extent that we are now firmly established as one of the top three sides in the Northern Football League.
We now have a well-established reputation for playing entertaining and attractive football as it should be played - and doing business off the field as it should be done in the best way possible,” added Don. Taylor Wimpey is currently building homes at the Galley Hill development off Stokesley Road in Guisborough. The scheme currently features a range of three and four-bedroom homes from £159,950.
Mark Leigh, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, commented: “For our part, we are very pleased indeed with the way our existing sponsorship and support for Guisborough Town has been utilised and harnessed in a way which has involved the local community in a very beneficial manner. This is very much in keeping with our own company philosophy of working together with local community groups and their representatives, particularly in the areas where we have a significant working presence. We have been extremely impressed with what Guisborough Town has achieved both on and off the field over the past few years and we are delighted to continue our support for another two years.”
