Saltburn today welcomed thousands of visitors with an appetite for good local food at its third annual Food Festival and next year’s date is already set!

The highlight of any local foodie’s year once again took over Milton Street in Saltburn today. There was a real festival atmosphere, with outdoor dining areas, world street food, live music, crafts and a plethora of stalls.

The town was flooded with around 70 of the best independent food producers from the North East and North Yorkshire – all coming from within a fifty-mile radius of the town.

The incredible array of treats included a wide range of locally produced meat & game, fresh fruit & veg, wild & garden herbs, artisan bread, handmade cheese, English wines, micro-brewery beers, chocolate, cakes & biscuits, gingerbread, gourmet scotch eggs, a gluten free stall, chilli plants & chilli sauces, hog roast, butchers’ bbq, plus local arts & crafts and much more besides.

Every year the festival’s popularity keeps on growing and the town gets busier. This year you could avoid the hunt for a car parking space and arrive in style on one of Whitby’s Vintage Buses. The park and ride scheme with the vintage buses were a true blast from the past, and enjoyed by passengers of all ages.

The event, which ran from ten till four, included special guest chefs such as TV chef & baking judge Peter Sidwell. Gilly Robinson Head Tutor at Malton Cookery School who was Senior Tutor for several years at Rosemary Shrager’s Cookery School and also used to work for Mick Jagger.

Other attractions included a Live Cookery Theatre, Chef’s BBQ, Art Street and Children’s Cookery Academy at the Methodist Church Hall. Saltburn Food Festival gave free 45 minute hands-on workshops for children aged between 5 and 15.

If you’re foodie who missed out on today’s event there’s good news. On Saturday September 12th the town’s popular monthly Farmers’ Market will return to bring you more tasty treats.

If you have an appetite for more, make sure you don’t miss next year’s event! On August 7th 2016 the Saltburn Food Festival will be back for its fourth year running.
