A commemorative plaque which has been refurbished in time for the centenary of World War I has been put back in its rightful place at Middlehaven Police Station.

The plaque, which commemorates police officers who served in the ‘Great War’, was refurbished using funding put forward by Tascor, who manage the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) buildings within the Force area and the Custody Management facility.

After a recent refurbishment of the front desk area of Middlehaven Police Station, it was noted that the plaque, which was presented to the Force in 1921, was in need of care and attention. Tascor then provided the funding for the plaque to be sent for restoration.

Chief Inspector Dave Lamplough, said: “We are very pleased that Tascor kindly offered to restore the plaque and that it is now back in the entrance to the police station where everyone can see it. There is a great sense of camaraderie amongst officers and we are proud of those that served in the war and for everyone that gave their lives and it is a fitting tribute to those officers who did so to have their names on display in our police station.”

Rob Tate, Tascor Services Contract Manager, said: “When the plaque was taken down during the recent refurbishment of the front desk area, it was looking quite tired and lacklustre. This year of all years we at Tascor felt that it would be a suitable gesture to have the plaque restored to its former glory and placed in a prominent location in the reception area as a fitting reminder that police officers are people who are members of the community they serve and, like others, suffered losses in the Great War.”
