A suspected drink driver has been arrested after a car crashed into a disused building before the driver allegedly fled the scene.

Emergency services were called to Yarm Lane, in Great Ayton, on Thursday following the incident.

On arrival they located a car that had crashed through the wall of a disused building.

The driver had exited the vehicle and left the scene.

North Yorkshire Police attended shortly before 10pm and managed to locate the man.

Police have confirmed that he failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police have removed another suspected stolen vehicle from the roads in our area.

Officers from Redcar and Cleveland’s Neighbourhood Policing Team located a suspected stolen vehicle in Saltburn yesterday.

The white Ford vehicle had been reported stolen from the North Yorkshire area and was displaying false number plates.

Officers seized the vehicle and enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

A dispersal order in Netherfields remains in place today after reports of antisocial behaviour.

The order will be in place until 4pm following an increase in reports of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage around the area of Vaughan Shops.

Youngsters causing trouble in the area can be directed to leave by a police officer, and they must not return within 48 hours.

Anyone who fails to comply will be arrested.

The order covers any public area bounded by Fulbeck Road, Sedgebrook Gardens, Stapleford Road, Midville Walk, Burwell Road, Althorpe Close and Cargo Fleet Lane.
