A man has been remanded in custody following a number of thefts from vehicles in Redcar.

The 31-year-old Redcar man was charged with three counts of theft from motor vehicles and three attempted thefts from vehicles.

He was remanded in custody after appearing at Teesside Magistrates’ Court last week.

The charges relate to several reports of vehicle offences in Redcar overnight last Tuesday.

The man is due to attend court again in early February.

The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue were called into action in our area at the weekend to assist an injured mountain biker.

Just before 11am on Saturday the team received a report of an injured mountain biker in woodland south of Hutton Village, near Guisborough.

The casualty had sustained a serious ankle injury and was treated by the ambulance crew and one of the Team doctors.

Once his ankle had been stabilised within a vacuum splint and he had received sufficient pain relief he was lifted onto a wheeled rescue stretcher and carried along the mountain bike track.

The casualty was then secured inside one of the team's Land Rovers and driven down to a forest track where he was transferred to the waiting ambulance.

Ten stolen and uninsured vehicles have been seized as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week.

Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team joined colleagues from Middlesbrough Council Environmental Team to tackle uninsured vehicles in East Middlesbrough.

Six vehicles were seized on Friday morning during a joint operation between the Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team, Middlesbrough Council and Thirteen.

The teams then hit three addresses in the Priestfields area of Middlesbrough, seizing four bikes and one high powered Yamaha which was suspected to have been stolen during a reported knife point robbery in May last year.

Investigations are ongoing to return property to the rightful owners.
