Police are appealing for information after a man was an assaulted in an attack by a group of men.

The incident happened on Cambridge Road in Middlesbrough at around 10:40pm on Thursday when a group of six males were involved in an altercation with a 20-year-old man, who suffered two stab wounds to his back.

The victim was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he received treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been bailed whilst enquiries continue.

Any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage or CCTV which may assist police is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency number 101.

A church in our area has been given the go ahead by council planners to extend its car park.

The New Life Pentecostal Church on Grosmont Close, off West Dyke Road in Redcar, applied for permission from Redcar and Cleveland Council to add another seven hardstanding parking spaces.

The extra spaces are being added by removing a fenced off grassed area to the front of the church and replacing it with environmentally friendly matting which will enable cars to access and exit the new area, while also providing a soak away for rain water.

Due to staff shortages, waste collection teams from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council were unable to collect garden waste in Guisborough yesterday.

The council is now asking residents to bring their bins in over the weekend and present them again on Tuesday morning for collection.

Posting on social media, the council has thanked residents for their patience and understanding.
