A man's body was recovered from the woods beneath Roseberry Topping.

Emergency services were called to Newton Woods after reports that a man had collapsed on Wednesday, just after midday.

Crews from the North East Ambulance Service, Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter, and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were all in attendance at the incident.

Tragically, the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team has confirmed it was later asked to recover a body from the woods, on behalf of the ambulance service.

No details about the person involved have been released.

Temporary traffic lights are due to return to a busy junction in Loftus today.

The lights will be reinstated at the Loftus A174 crossroads until Tuesday next week, in order to complete the removal of the final overhead cables by Northern Powergrid.

The traffic management is required to undertake these key infrastructure improvements in a safe manner.

Residents are being asked to be patient over this period.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have apologised after garden waste was not collected in parts of Guisborough yesterday.

Due to staff shortages, the council were unable to collect garden waste in parts of Guisborough, and also Newton under Roseberry and Pinchinthorpe.

Residents are asked to present their garden waste bins first thing this morning for collection.

The council has thanked residents for their patience and understanding.
