Four people have been bailed pending further enquiries after two unexplained deaths in the South Bank area.
Officers were called to a property in Ajax Way in South Bank on the evening of Monday 18th September following concerns for an occupant of the address.
Sadly, the body of a 35-year-old woman was found.
Around 10:30am on Tuesday 19th September officers were called to a report of a sudden death at a property on South Court in South Bank where a second woman, aged 38, had passed away.
Enquiries into both deaths are continuing and, at this time, police are treating the deaths as unexplained whilst tests are being carried out to establish the cause of their deaths.
Formal identification of the two women has taken place and their families have been informed.
A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance in relation to both incidents.
Two men aged 47 and a 39-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance in connection with the death at South Court.
All remain on bail whilst enquiries are ongoing.
An operation to investigate crime along our coastline took place in our area yesterday.
Two officers from Redcar and Cleveland Neighbourhood Policing Team went on joint patrol with Fisheries Enforcement from the Environment Agency.
The coastline was patrolled by boat from Hartlepool to Marske.
The force says that working with partner agencies on enforcement is just one aspect of policing and builds good relationships and solutions to all kinds of criminal activity.
This year's Great British Beach Clean is taking place this weekend.
The event, which encourages members of the public to help to tidy up beaches in their area, is happening this Sunday.
Volunteers from our area will be gathering at the Majuba Car park just before 11am, and then from 11am until 12 noon, will be on the beach picking up litter.
Litter picks, bags and gloves will be provided.
