The reported incident happened around 5:45pm on Wednesday at South Gare.
Officers arrived and located the Vauxhall Astra as the driver reportedly began driving away from the scene.

Police are urging members of the public to call police if they see suspicious activity after a number of vehicles were stolen in 2-in-1 burglaries overnight on Wednesday into Thursday this week.
Reports were received of two incidents, the first reported on Hall Drive in Acklam around 4:35am yesterday morning where a Volkswagen Golf was stolen, and the second on Fox Howe in Coulby Newham reported at around 5:45am whereby a Mercedes-Benz CLA and a Nissan Juke were stolen.
A 2-in-1 burglary is when someone gains access to a property and steals the car keys and subsequently a vehicle.
There have also been other incidents reported across the Cleveland Police area and officers are working to identify those responsible.
