A man has been arrested after reports of an attempted rape in Eston yesterday.
The 39-year-old was taken into custody after police were called to the Granwood Road area just before 8am yesterday.
The female victim is being supported by officers and police remain in the area conducting further enquiries and offering a reassuring presence to local residents.
Officers are appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to police and who has information, doorbell, dashcam or CCTV which could assist their enquiries to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
Redcar has been left in pole position for a trial which will use hydrogen gas as a domestic fuel after the plug was pulled on a rival bid.
Redcar and Ellesmere Port, in the north west, have been in the running to be designated as the UK’s first ‘hydrogen village’.
However gas firm Cadent said it has been informed by the Government that its submitted scheme in the Whitby area of Ellesmere Port was not the preferred proposal.
It is now understood that this means the Government is likely to progress the trial in Redcar.
A new festival for children, young people and families is coming to Redcar this summer.
Between the Tides is a weekend of adventure and exploration, imagination and messiness taking place across the town on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August.
The festival will transform the streets into a spectacle of free theatre, puppetry, circus, dance, storytelling and live music and much more in a creative celebration of Redcar's coastal location.
Performances from an array of local and nationally renowned outdoor arts companies will be presented along the High Street, on the Esplanade and outside Tuned In! and a host of other spaces across the town.
