A suspected burglar has been arrested after an incident in which police officers were assaulted in South Bank;

Two men have appeared in court charged with drugs offences after a warrant was carried out by police;

A suspected burglar has been arrested after an incident in which police officers were assaulted in South Bank.

Two plain clothed officers were carrying out enquiries into a report of an attempted burglary at around 1pm on Wednesday on Uvedale Road.

Whilst at the address, the officers were required to detain a man who tried to make off from police.

Subsequently, the officers were confronted by a large number of people on Bevanlee Road who became increasingly aggressive and were encouraging the suspect to be violent towards the officers.

Both officers were assaulted during the incident and were both taken to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and two counts of assault on an emergency worker.

He has been charged with both assaults and was remanded in custody.

No further action is being taken in regards to the burglary.

Two men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of public order offences and they have all be issued with a penalty notice.

 

Two men have appeared in court charged with drugs offences after a warrant was carried out by police.

Officers from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Operational Support Unit carried out the warrant on Surrey Street, leading to the recovery of a large amount of suspected crack cocaine.

Two men aged 22 and 23 were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Both were charged and appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday morning.

 

The volunteer crews of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area yesterday.

A twenty to midday, Redcar's D Class lifeboat was launched to assist in the search for a suspected missing person at Saltburn.

The lifeboat carried out a search of the area before returning to the lifeboat station once the seach was completed.

The lifeboat crew then stood down, with police taking over the search.
