Outline consent has been granted by Redcar and Cleveland Council for phase two of a Taylor Wimpey development in Guisborough incorporating up to 60 new homes.
The proposal for land off Nightingale Road, Galley Hill, Guisborough, would also encompass new vehicle and pedestrian access routes, and associated landscaping.
The plans were first lodged back in 2018 and while outline consent has been given, some of the detail, including the appearance, scale and layout will still need to be agreed by the council.
A council officer’s report said 26 representations from members of the public had been received objecting to the plans, with only one in support.
Police have confirmed that a woman's body was discovered on the sand dunes in Redcar last week.
Officers were called last Monday after the body of a woman was found near to the caravan park just off Majuba Road.
Cleveland Police has now confirmed that the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious and that a file has been prepared for the coroner.
More national funding has been granted for a successful, innovative scheme which supports vulnerable adults in the borough who are working to transform their lives.
The Council’s Changing Futures programme has been awarded an additional £850,000 to help those experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health issues, domestic abuse and contact with the criminal justice system.
Redcar and Cleveland is one of just 15 pilot areas in the country taking part in the Changing Futures programme which focuses on driving lasting system change, providing long-term, joined-up support and ensuring a lasting legacy for their approach.
Since the programme first launched in July 2021, a total of 465 people have either been helped or are currently being supported.
