A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal as officers investigate a number of incidents in Guisborough.
The man was arrested following reports a number of burglaries in Guisborough town centre on Monday.
He is currently being questioned by officers and remains in police custody at this time.
Cleveland Police say their officers will continue to deliver a highly visible presence in and around the area to support local residents and gain intelligence.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact Redcar CID on the non-emergency number 101.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have thanked residents for their patience and understanding after a burglary caused disruption to some of their services.
Posting on Facebook, the council said that due to a break in at one of the council's depots on Monday night, a number of equipment items were stolen causing a significant disruption to some services.
East Cleveland Streetscene operation was limited yesterday including Street Cleaning and No Grounds Maintenance.
The council say that they are hoping to have at least 50% of both services running again today and tomorrow and return back to full operations on Monday.
A teenage martial arts world champion who floored an attacker in a clip which went viral has scooped a citizen award.
17-year-old Alex Williams from Redcar hit the headlines after he was attacked in Guisborough during his lunch break from Prior Pursglove Sixth Form College.
His attacker had no idea that Alex was a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champion until he was restrained with a signature take down.
The attack was captured on video, which went viral on social media.
After the incident, Alex joined forces with 20-year-old Serenity Scott from Thornaby, and jointly formed NXT Gen Mixed Martial Arts.
Now the pair have been recognised with a prestigious Rotary Young Citizen Sporting Hero Award.
Alex and Serenity received their award on April 29 at an awards ceremony in Alcester, which is the headquarters of Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland.
