A car has ploughed into the bay window of a flat after failing to stop for police and making off.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle due to its manner of driving on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough, however, it failed to stop and fled the street.

A Peugeot 308 was then located on Westwood Close, abandoned beside the damaged window with its boot and door open.

Cleveland Police launched a search of the area and arrested a 17-year-old male on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, no insurance, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, criminal damage and possession of a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place.

He has since been bailed whilst enquiries continue.
