Police are appealing for information following a distraction burglary in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred on the Avenue in Linthorpe between 8.30pm and 8.37pm on Monday.

A man attended the address and while the two elderly residents were distracted, gained access to the property.

It’s believed that £60 was taken from inside.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s or early 30s with dark hair wearing a black sweatshirt with a red and white stripe across the front and back and dark blue jeans.

It is also believed he may have drove a silver Volkswagen Golf around the area at the time.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
