A man has admitted fatally attacking a drug addict, in the early hours of the morning, after a row over a £20 debt;

Four men have been arrested in connection with an assault following an operation on Monday morning across the Redcar and Cleveland area;

...and detectives from Middlesbrough CID are appealing for witnesses to a store robbery, including anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam.

 

A man has admitted fatally attacking a drug addict, in the early hours of the morning, after a row over a £20 debt.

36-year-old Ray Whincup was standing trial for murder at Teesside Crown Court, when he indicated he would plead guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

His plea was accepted by the court.

Mr Whincup has sat through days of evidence from doctors and a pathologist, listing the injuries and emergency surgery that Mark Robinson endured.

40-year-old Mr Robinson died more than a year after the attack.

Mr Whincup, previously of Station Road in Redcar, will be sentenced for the manslaughter of Mark Robinson later this morning.

 

Four men have been arrested in connection with an assault following an operation on Monday morning across the Redcar and Cleveland area.

The arrests were made in relation to an ongoing investigation.

A number of weapons were seized along with cash and drugs.

The four men aged 27, 29, 30, and 25, have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detectives from Middlesbrough CID are appealing for witnesses to a store robbery, including anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam.

At approximately 7.45pm on Monday, two males went into Welcome Stores on Cumberland Road. 

They were both armed with large kitchen knives and threatened the male member of staff, demanding cash and cigarettes, however they fled empty handed when the alarm was raised.

Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
