Police are appealing for information on what was reported to police as a possible firearm sighted in Teesville.

Police received a report that of a group of lads had what the caller believed to be a black hand gun, on Burns Road in Teesville at around 7.50pm on Friday evening.

Anyone who may have witnessed this or who may have information is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

The mayor of Middlesbrough has again hit out following reports of yet another incident involving yobs on a local estate.

Middlesbrough mayor Andy Preston called for youth curfews and tagging after an alleged incident involving about 30 youngsters on Saturday night in Berwick Hills.

Despite a 48-hour dispersal order and arrests Mr Preston said shop workers were left "terrified" and cars were vandalised including a police vehicle.

The mayor is now calling for action, in a statement on social media he asked all Teesside MPs to push for new laws that protect the public.

Families across the borough are set to receive extra support thanks to a major funding boost.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is one of 75 local authorities across the country to receive Government funding for Family Hubs which provide support to parents and carers of children and young people aged to 19.

The funding will help transform and improve both the range and availability of services at existing family hubs -  including health visiting and maternity services.

The vision is for Family Hubs to become the first port of call for Early Help services, where a parent or carer can drop in and either receive or be signposted to the services on offer to support them and their child.
