Residents across our area are being reminded to lock their doors after a spate of so-called 2 in 1 burglaries overnight.

On Briggs Avenue in South Bank, a vehicle stolen some time between 8pm Monday night and 7am yesterday, whilst two vehicles were stolen on Borough Road in Redcar between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Monday night.

A vehicle was also stolen on Brecon Drive in Redcar at around 1am yesterday, whilst there was an attempted theft of a motor vehicle on Fir Rigg Drive in Marske between 1.10am and 1.20am yesterday.

The incidents involved the thieves gaining access via insecure doors and taking keys from coat pockets.

While no arrests have currently been made, officers are following up a number of lines of enquiry and we would remind all residents to lock all doors to their property - especially overnight - and to keep vehicle keys out of sight and out of reach.

A man has appeared in court after another man was seriously injured at the weekend.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm without intent, following an incident in Middlesbrough which involved a 57-year-old man being seriously injured.

The incident occurred on Beaumont Road on Saturday 28th January.

The 57-year-old man remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The 19-year-old appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Dead game birds and a weapon have been seized and three men will be interviewed under caution as police continue their efforts to protect rural communities in our area from crime and anti-social behaviour.

On Sunday afternoon East Cleveland response and Neighbourhood Police Team officers were called to a report that a group of three men was suspected to be poaching on moorland near Lockwood Ward.

Officers attended and searched a vehicle, recovering an air weapon and a number of dead game birds which are believed to have been illegally sourced.

Enquiries are ongoing, and officers are urging anyone with any information about rural crime to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
