A tradesman from Redcar has been sentenced for providing poor quality work and failing to complete work after taking deposits from 6 householders.

The man, who was providing roofing work and garden landscaping, was sentenced to 10 months in jail suspended for 1 year and ordered to pay compensation to customers totalling £2752.

Trading Standards received complaints from 6 unsatisfied customers about poor workmanship, taking deposits and not returning to complete the work, failure to carry out repair works as promised and failing to deal with complaints.

A man has been found dead in a parked caravan on a Teesside industrial estate.

Police officers were called to the Canon Park Industrial Estate on Saturday by the North East Ambulance Service where a man, aged in his 40s, was found dead.

The man's death is not being treated as suspicious by Cleveland Police.

Residents in our area are being asked for their opinions on a proposed move for Redcar library.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are proposing to move Redcar Library from the ground floor of Redcar and Cleveland House to a new location within the ground floor of TunedIn! on Majuba Road in Redcar.

The move would be on a temporary basis, until mid 2025, when the library would be moved to a brand new facility in Redcar Town Centre, as part of the Redcar Town Deal development.

The council are inviting residents to give their views on the proposal and would like to hear your thoughts on the planned design, any suggestions on what you would like to see at the new venue and also any concerns that you may want to raise.

For more information and to have your say visit the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council website.
