Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was hospitalised after being stabbed in an aggravated burglary.

The attack took place at Longhirst in Coulby Newham at around 6pm on Monday.

The victim was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, to receive treatment for his stab wounds.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV are asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Fishermen, sea swimmers and activists have gathered outside the Teesworks site to protest against plans to dredge the Tees.

Fishermen from Hartlepool, Redcar and Whitby who say they have seen their livelihoods "decimated" by the shellfish die-offs along the North-east coast joined the rally.

Organisers of the North East Fishing Collective say that they want more "transparency" ahead of a reinvestigation into the mass deaths in January.

They are calling for sediment from the dredging works to be landfilled - and not "dumped at sea".

It comes as Teesworks announced it will start the next phase of dredging, where the material will be disposed of at sea, by the end of March next year.

Today is the final day for members of the public to give their views on Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's proposal to renew the Public Spaces Protection Order against anti-social vehicle use for another three years.

The council also proposes to introduce some changes to increase its effectiveness and public safety.

These changes include extending the PSPO to include the anti-social use of motorbikes and quads anywhere in Redcar and Cleveland, prohibiting any vehicle driving on Saltburn’s lower promenade, or onto the beaches via the slipways located between The Ship Inn and Hazelgrove, and requiring cyclists to dismount when on the lower promenade in Saltburn.
