The family of a missing man have been informed after a body was found in Brotton yesterday.

At around 8am yesterday morning police were called to report of a body found in woodland behind Marshall Drive in Brotton, and although no formal identification has taken place, the family of missing Great Ayton man Peter Edwards have been informed.

38-year-old Peter was last seen walking at teatime on October 22 at the side of Asda at Skelton Retail Park.

It is believed he travelled to the supermarket in a BMW vehicle, parking it at the Longacre pub.

In a statement released yesterday Cleveland Police said that heir thoughts are with Peter's family at this difficult time.

Two men who fled the scene of a crash involving a stolen car despite being potentially seriously injured are being hunted by police.

Normanby Road in Middlesbrough was closed in the early hours of yesterday morning after when a stolen black Audi Q7 flipped and collided with a wall.

Officers were called to the scene as two men were spotted running from the vehicle with suspected injuries.

A wall was destroyed outside of a home near Spencerbeck Farm, while the Audi suffered severe damage.

Cleveland Police said a search has been launched to find the two men, who were believed to be significantly injured following the crash.

The black Audi Q7 is thought to have been stolen during a two-in-one home and car burglary nearby shortly before the crash.

Redcar CID have charged a man with burglary and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.

The charges were made in connection with a reported incident at the Ship Inn pub in Guisborough on Monday which reportedly resulted in a man being assaulted and his car being reportedly stolen.

The man now has his car back and the 34-year-old male who was charged appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday.
