A Cleveland Police officer has denied driving without due care and attention after two teenagers were seriously injured in a collision in our area.

PC David Simon French appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court following an incident which left an 18-year-old man and 17-year-old girl badly hurt.

It is alleged that PC French drove a police van without due care and attention on Grewgrass Lane at New Marske, in the early hours of May 22nd this year.

PC French spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth, and entered a not guilty plea to the charge of driving without due care and attention.

The trial will take place on March 10 next year at 10am at Teesside Magistrates' Court.

PC French was granted unconditional bail until he next appears in court.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have apologised after an unforeseen issue meant that crews were not able to collect the recycling bins in a number of hard to reach areas in Loftus and Skelton yesterday.

The affected streets are North Road, East Crescent, Springhead Terrace, Dam Street, and the alley behind the Station Hotel - all in Loftus, and Holmbeck Road in Skelton.

The council says it will have a crew out today to collect the bins and has asked that residents in the affected areas put them back out today for collection.

The council has apologised for any inconvenience this may cause and thanked residents for their patience and understanding.

Teams of experts will be available next week to advise residents in our area on the cost of living crisis.

An event is taking place on Monday in Grangetown with entertainment on offer and advice for residents from staff from Welfare Rights, Redcar and Cleveland Citizens Advice, MEC Affordable Warmth and many more organisations who will be there to offer help and guidance.

The event takes place this coming Monday 28th November between 3-6pm at the Grangetown United Community Hub on Derwentwater Road.
