A man who was sadly found dead inside a property on Homerton Road in Middlesbrough on Friday has now been formally identified.

He is 36-year-old Carlos Boyce who lived in Middlesbrough.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident and enquiries are on-going.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to call them on the non-emerency number 101.

 

Police in Redcar have reunited a number of stolen items with their owner following a burglary in Redcar last week.

Following the burglary on Corporation Road last Tuesday, officers from the Redcar Neighbourhood Team recovered a number of suspected stolen items worth around £15,000 which were returned to their rightful owner.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man and recovered a quantity of class B drugs.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

 

A week-long focus on tackling knife crime across our area has been launched.

As part of Operation Sceptre, an initiative to tackle knife crime across the country, all 43 forces across England and Wales, along with the British Transport Police, will take part in intensified efforts to crack down on knife-enabled crime and violence.

Throughout the week of action, forces will coordinate activity looking to target the root causes of knife crime.

There will be focus on the different strands of education, engagement, prevention and enforcement, all of which are important in playing a part to reduce knife crime.
