The volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area to rescue two teenagers.
Just after 6.30 yesterday evening the Redcar D Class Lifeboat was launched after reports of two teenagers being swept out to sea near to Cliffe House at Marske.
Both teenagers were located in the sea a short time later and rescued by the lifeboat crew.
The casualties were returned safely to Redcar Lifeboat Station and handed over to a waiting Ambulance crew.
Dredging work has begun on the River Tees as part of the Teesworks development - despite calls for the government to reopen its investigation into pollution and mass crustacean deaths.
Work for the South Bank Quay, as part of the South Tees Development Corporation, will see 125,000 cubic metres of material removed from the river and disposed on land.
It follows months of concerns over mass crustacean deaths, where thousands of dead and dying crabs and shellfish have been found on the shoreline in our area since last October.
Last week, Defra confirmed it would not be re-opening their investigation, despite the calls from protestors and charities.
Police are appealing for the public's help after they recovered a number of suspected stolen items in Redcar.
The items, which included various tools, fishing apparatus and a mountain bike were recovered by Redcar Town Neighbourhood Police Team Officers as they executed a warrant at an address on Harwal Road in Redcar on Tuesday morning.
The items are suspected to have been stolen.
