The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area.

Just before 7pm on Wednesday, the Redcar D Class lifeboat was launched after reports of a person in trouble close to the Dundas Street slipway.

The person was helped to shore by members of the public and tended to by Paramedics.

The lifeboat crew were then able to return to the lifeboat station.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have announced that, due to unforeseen absences, some green waste bins won’t be collected today.

The affected areas include parts of Guisborough, Pinchinthorpe and Newton under Roseberry, including farms in the area.

The council say that they will have a vehicle out on Saturday in the affected streets in order to collect the garden waste and are asking residents if they can re-present their garden bin by 7am on Saturday for collection.

The council has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery was reported in Middlesbrough.

The incident happened around 12:30pm on Tuesday at the junction of Marton Burn Road and Keith Road.

The victim, a woman aged in her thirties, was walking on Keith Road and as she approached the junction of Marton Burn Road and Keith Road she felt a kick to her back which caused he to stumble into a wall.

A male on a bicycle then grabbed her purse from within her coat pocket, containing cash, a bank card and a driving licence.

The suspect then cycled away towards Saltersgill Avenue.

He is described as a male, around 5ft 9" tall, of slim to medium build and wearing a black Under Armour tracksuit and a face covering, possibly a balaclava.

The suspect was on a matt grey mountain bike which had black wheels, and a distinctive illuminous yellow and orange seat.

Any witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the suspect, is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
