Police have named a man who died following an alleged incident in Guisborough on Monday;

The volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area yesterday;

...and Emergency services were called to deal with a fire which caused traffic disruption in our area yesterday evening.

 

Police have named a man who died following an alleged incident in Guisborough on Monday.

He is 62-year-old Alan Garbutt, from the East Cleveland area.

Mr Garbutt suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead after officers were called to Helmsley House in Guisborough around 2:20am on Monday morning.

Further arrests have now been made in connection with the investigation into Mr Garbutt's death.

A 16-year-old boy, two men aged 28, a 43-year-old man and a 47-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder and all remain in police custody.

A 45-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

A 23-year-old woman also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender remains in police custody.  

Detectives are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have information or anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area around the time of the incident to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

 

The volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area yesterday.

Just before 6pm yesterday evening, the Atlantic 85 lifeboat from Redcar was launched to a report of kayaker in trouble near to the windfarm.

The lifeboat crew carried out a search as far as Paddys Hole at South Gare.

However, the kayaker could not be found and the search was eventually called off.

The incident was logged as a call for help made with good intent.

 

Emergency services were called to deal with a fire which caused traffic disruption in our area yesterday evening.

Just after 6pm firefighters were called to deal with a fire between the Marton interchange and the Coulby Newham (pron "Colby knew 'em") turn off.

Smoke was blowing across the road, affecting the A174 westbound near to Marton and causing traffic delays.

It is understood the fire was extinguished a short time later.
