Police have made two arrenst and recovered suspected drugs in the Newport area of Middlesbrough.

Acting on information from the local community, yesterday afternoon, officers from the Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team accompanied by Cleveland Police Dog Unit carried out a warrant at Carlow Street.

A 40-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, possession of class C drugs and abstracting electricity.

Both were taken into police custody.

Suspected cannabis and prescription medication was recovered.

A police assisted with searches at the property and the electricity board was called to assist with the bypassed electricity.

Anyone with information regarding drugs activity in our area is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

The Cleveland Police Domestic Abuse cars will be working across the force area again this weekend, travelling to on-going incidents alongside response officers.

The cars complement the 24/7/365 support offered to all victims of domestic abuse.

They’re operated by dedicated police officers and specialist support staff from Harbour and My Sisters Place.

At the scene victims can receive help and advice, as well as practical support and safeguarding.

Although the cars are deployed for on-going incidents at the weekend, you can always report domestic abuse to police at any time or night or day via the 101 number.

Residents in Guisborough who haven't had a garden waste collection this week are being asked to present their bins again this morning.

Following the absence of several drivers this week, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council experienced issues with garden waste collection yesterday.

The council say they will have crews out early today to empty the garden waste bins.

If you live in Guisborough, you should re-present your garden waste bin so that crews can empty them.

Posting on social media, the council apologised for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience.
