A major road in our area had to be closed yesterday afternoon following a collision between two vehicles.
The incident happened just before 5pm on the A66 eastbound between the North Ormesby junction and the Cargo Fleet Lane junction.
A spillage occurred following the collision, which caused police to close the road whilst a clean up took place.
The road re-opened at around 5.30pm.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have announced that refuse crews will be making extra collections at the weekend, in order to catch up with those missed earlier in the week.
Council crews will be out on Saturday to empty all the recycling and garden waste bins that were missed on Tuesday due to health and safety precautions in the extremely hot weather.
Residents of Eston, Normanby and Grangetown who did not get their bins emptied are asked to present both recycling and garden waste bins by 7am as crews will be out early on Saturday.
The council has thanked all the residents for their support and understanding earlier in the week.
Tributes have been paid to Former Cleveland County Councillor and former Leader of Redcar and Cleveland, councillor David Walsh, who has died after a period of illness.
Mr Walsh, who was 73, dedicated many years of his life to serving residents across Redcar and Cleveland.
He served in many roles at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, including as leader and deputy leader.
He was also a familiar figure as a user of public transport in our area for many years.
The current leader of the Redcar and Cleveland Labour group, Cllr Alec Brown said yesterday that he was honoured to have served on the same cabinet as David during the last Labour administration and will always be grateful for the advice he'd given him.
He said that he had never met a person like him, a true intellect, a Labour stalwart, a passionate public servant and above all a nice genuine man that will always be missed.
