Specialist domestic abuse detectives have welcomed the sentence given to a Middlesbrough man after he admitted to stalking and other offences.

34-year-old Richard James Davies had already been handed Cleveland Police’s first Stalking Protection Order while he was under investigation for a number of offences including stalking, harassment, assault, and criminal damage.

Davies first appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court at the end of May after being charged with two breaches of an interim stalking protection order, two breaches of a non-molestation order, one count of assault and one Section 4 stalking with violence offence.

He pleaded guilty to all the charges then, as well as admitting he’d carried out a variety of criminal offences between September last year and May.

He was remanded to be sentenced at Teesside Crown Court in late June, where he received a sentence of 6 years and 3 months.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboats have been called into action in our area.

Just after 11.30pm on Monday, the volunteer crews were paged and reported to the lifeboat station following reports of a police incident at Marske.

Both lifeboats were readied for launch, however reports were then received that the incident had been resolved by the police and lifeboats did not need to launch.

Residents of Redcar and Cleveland are being invited to have their say about a new Coastal Activity Hub on Redcar’s seafront.

The hub would host a range of exciting activities, sports and events and could include windsurfing, kiteboarding, triathlon, running, cycling and yoga.

It would be located in a unique shipping container village that can be used as a meeting place and an informal base for sports clubs and organisations, community groups, school groups, activity leaders, families, or groups of friends.

It's all part of the Redcar Town Deal, a government initiative which granted Redcar with £25 million.

More details of the scheme are available on the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council website.
