A youngster has been airlifted to hospital after a collision involving a car outside a Middlesbrough school.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to Hall Drive in Acklam this afternoon following reports of the collision, which involved one child and a car.

The incident took place close to Outwood Academy.

The road was closed in both directions while paramedics tended to the patient.

The road remained sealed off by police while the Accident Investigation Unit carried out its work.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar lifeboats have been called into action in our area.

Just after 11ppm on Wednesday the Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched to assist with a Police incident on the River Tees.

The incident was resolved by the police, and the lifeboat returned to station at 02.30am.

A Pub Watch campaign, spearheaded by a local MP to promote a "fun and safe evening environment", has been joined by almost every venue in the TS6 area.

Redcar MP Jacob Young has helped set up the TS6 Pub Watch scheme to help unite local drinking establishments in tackling anti-social behaviour in a postal district of Teesside.

The scheme will see all member pubs, bars and clubs share intelligence and unite in issuing area-wide bans for identified problem customers.

Under the scheme, if a customer is barred from one pub, they're barred from all.
