Northern Rail has said that a skeleton train service will operate for three days this when industrial action by the RMT union is set to take place.

The rail service has confirmed the dates as tomorrow, Thursday and Saturday.

Train timetables across the country will be affected by the strike, which could cause up to six days of disruption.

Despite there being an uplift in services on days that fall in-between strikes dates, the chaos has forced Northern to advise its customers 'do not travel' next week.

In our area, the skeleton timetable will see hourly services operating between 8am and 6pm from Darlington to Saltburn.

Detectives are appealing for the publics help after three incidents in the Redcar area.

The first incident happened around 8:45pm on Wednesday on Westbourne Grove whereby male suspects wearing dark clothing and in balaclavas used bladed weapons to attack a 17-year-old boy.

The boy attended hospital for treatment and was later discharged.

The second incident happened on Micklow Close around 7:30am on Thursday when there was a report of an altercation in the street involving bladed weapons.

One of the males is reported to have been wearing dark bottoms and a blue top.

A third incident happened around 3pm on Thursday when a 44-year-old man was attacked in an alleyway between Westbourne Grove and Station Road.

The victim received non-life threatening injuries and did not receive medical treatment.

The incidents are not believed to be linked at this time and detectives from Redcar and Cleveland CID are investigating.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call police on the non-emergency number 101.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboats were called into action on Friday evening.

At 7.30pm, both lifeboats were launched to assist with a police incident.

It's believed that the coastguard helicopter was also involved.

Further details of the incident have not yet been released.
