It's been confirmed that a baby has tragically died following an emergency services incident in Guisborough.
The North East Ambulance Service and Cleveland Police were called to Derby Road in the town at around 8.15 yesterday morning.
Cleveland Police issued a statement on the tragedy yesterday evening, confirming that an infant had passed away.
A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
Police remained at the scene for several hours following the call, including three marked police vehicles and a CID vehicle.
Council officers have visited a large group of traveller families after they pitched up at a popular Redcar walking spot.
An encampment of around 20 vehicles, horse-boxes and motor homes started to arrive on The Stray, which is council-owned land, earlier this week.
Garden furniture, washing lines and a number of tethered horses can be seen from the roadside.
It's understood that people are "passing through" the town on their way to Appleby Horse Fair, which takes place next month.
Redcar and Cleveland Council says it is "aware of the situation" and the "matter is in hand".
