Four men have been jailed after a lengthy police investigation into a violent incident in Guisborough last year.

A home and vehicle in Helmsley Drive in the town were damaged in March 2021 and a number of victims intimidated and threatened.

Yesterday 28-year-old Craig Nash, 29-year-old Simon Nash, 30-year-old Liam Nash and 39-year-old Paul Jeffels received prison sentences ranging from 2 years to 2 years and 8 months.

Speaking after sentencing a spokesperson for Cleveland Police said that the force welcomed the sentences and hope that the men’s imprisonment serves as a warning to those who would seek to bully and intimidate others in their community that this type of activity will not go unpunished.

A smoking pile of rubbish had to be dumped in the middle of a cul-de-sac in our area following a lorry fire.

Residents on Cragside Road in Brotton, woke up yesterday morning to find a large pile of rubbish on fire in the street.

The refuse initially caught on fire inside a Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council recycling lorry, and was then dumped onto the road in an attempt to prevent further damage.

Cleveland Fire Brigade confirmed they attended the scene at 9.17am, with them leaving the scene just 16 minutes later.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have apologised for a delay in payment of the energy bill rebate to local residents.

The non-repayable rebate of £150 was announced by the Government in February, and is to be paid to households in England in council tax bands A to D who occupy their home and are liable for council tax as at 1st April.

However, posting on Facebook, the council say that due to a technical issue with their payment system, there is a slight delay in the first batch of payments being made to residents in our area.

The council have apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused.
