The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area yesterday.

At twenty five to three yesterday afternoon the Atlantic 85 was launched to assist a surfer who had been spotted by a member of the public in difficulties off Huntcliff at Saltburn.

The lifeboat crew located and rescued the surfer from the water in challenging conditions.

The crew and the surfer then returned safely to the lifeboat station at Redcar.

The public are reminded that if you see someone in trouble in the water you can raise the alarm by calling 999 or 112 and asking for the coastguard.

Two men have been arrested and drugs seized after a report of an ongoing disturbance in Grove Hill yesterday.

The incident was reported at around 7:10am on Lambton Road, after two males were believed to have made off after reportedly stealing a high value pedal cycle from an address.

Middlesbrough response officers attended the scene and quickly located two males nearby and recovered the suspected stolen pedal bike, which was returned to its owner.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of a class B drug, and a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of a class A drug.

Both men were taken into police custody and enquiries are continuing.

Detectives are investigating the theft of an amount of highly valuable jewellery in a reported burglary in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred at Goldfactors on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough, and the stolen jewellery included rings, necklaces, watches and earrings.

Officers believe that the incident happened between 10pm and midnight on Saturday and would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area around this time or anyone who may have been offered jewellery for sale to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
