Work has continued on the emergency repair to the damaged sewer pipe at the Cat Nab car park in Saltburn.

The pipe was damaged by a third party working in the car park on Wednesday.

The repair is a priority for Northumbrian Water and the company says that it is working with its contractors and Redcar & Cleveland Council to fix the pipe and stop the spillage as quickly as possible.

Due to the complexity and scale of the repair work, this is expected to be ongoing for a number of days. Tankering is continuing to remove some of the contents of the pipe but it is inevitable that there will be a discharge.

The car park and adjacent area of beach have been cordoned off by Redcar and Cleveland Council.

A busy Teesside road was partially blocked after a car left the road and overturned.

The crash happened on Stainton Way in Coulby Newham yesterday morning.

Police and ambulance crews were in attendance.

Pictures from the scene showed a white vehicle on its roof on the grass verge close to Cleveland Police Station and King's Academy.

The accident is believed to have taken place just before 9am.

Plans have been unveiled to replace a bridge over the rail line at Loftus which has been closed because of its dangerous condition.

The closure means that currently an order is in place prohibiting the public from using the Public Footpath from its junction with Water Lane to the junction with the Rose Cottage access track. Signed diversions are in operation warning the public not to attempt to cross.

The new bridge, which will be funded by ICl Boulby, will be of metal construction to ensure that it can make a long-lasting contribution to supporting the objectives of the Loftus regeneration project to develop the area as a centre for walking and cycling activities.
